When Angelo Ciocca and his partners opened Nova Seafood on Portland Maine’s Union Wharf back in 1990, they worked 15-hour days to procure,
process, and deliver the finest seafood to New England customers. The partners’ work ethic was an important part of the company’s success,
but equally, if not more important, was their principle of “Quality First” which they applied to both the seafood product they sold and
the customers they served.
Fast forward to today. Nova Seafood is an international seafood supplier with three strategic locations: Portland, Maine; Maritime Canada; and Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.
Our company has direct access to three trawling vessels and one long-line vessel; personal relationships with fishermen in the Gulf of Maine,
Maritime Canada, and the North Atlantic; seats on the RSF Icelandic Auction as well as all three major New England fish auctions: The Portland
Fish Exchange, The Cape Ann Seafood Exchange in Gloucester, MA and the Whaling City Display Auction in New Bedford, MA.
Currently one of the largest seafood importers and distributors on the U.S. East Coast, Nova markets a variety of fresh and frozen seafood
items to major retailers and distributors across the country.
While much has changed since 1990, much has stayed the same: Nova Seafood is still run by Angelo Ciocca and remains to this day, a hands-on business dedicated to “Quality First.”
